Field Report – Case ID: KL58739XVI
Background
The Tower of the One Song recordings are shrouded in mystery. Many believe them to be the creation of sonic archeologist Nicholas Swinburne, who achieved notoriety two years ago when he claimed to have discovered the fabled tower on an uncharted island in the south Pacific. Swinburne’s claims to have translated the One Song from the ten clay discs that he found in the ruined tower met with ridicule upon his return.
The translations depict the ascent of a nameless hero through ten portals to the Tower and direct unity with the so-called “One Song” through which the universe was sung into being. Swinburne attempted to reenact the journey through a transmission device connected to the discs, or “Grooves.” The fact that only a pile of dust remained where Swinburne’s body should have been found led to speculation that he was electrocuted while attempting to use the device to reach the tower.
